Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks

June 2012 marked a wonderful month for beauty shoppers when Revlon Cosmetics launched several new varieties of cosmetics to their line with Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks, Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealer, Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, and Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup.  I had the chance to put those products to the test for a review.

Today, I will be giving you my take on Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks that come in five shades.  These thick crayon type pencils have one end of darker color for lining the eye while the opposite end has a lighter highlight shade to use on the lid.  I got to try Volcanic (a dangerous deep gray and silvery white), Flare (dark glimmering plum and orchid), Smolder (gorgeous deep teal and  pale silvery blue-green), and Atomic (dark earthy olive-green and lighter coppery gold color).

In the above photo starting on the left is #220 Volcanic, #210 Flare, #205 Atomic, and last #215 Smolder.

swatches of Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks.jpeg
On my arm are the contour and highlight shades of each starting on the left is #220 Volanic#210 Flare, #215 Smolder and ending at my wrist are the two shades of #205 Atomic.

I loved how creamy  these amazing crayons were to blend to create the look of smoky eyes.  Apply the lighter shade from the lash line to the brow bone and then turn the crayon upside down and work with the darker end to rim along your lash line and crease before using your fingers to smoke it out.

You can skip using your normal eye liner because the tip of the darker side is pointed enough to do the job.  However, if you want more definition use with your own eyeliner, which I think would be a better choice for making your eyes stand out to the max since the slanted tip is rather thick for that need.

The color combinations are wonderful.  If your eyes are sensitive,  you will have no problem of any flying shadow residue to get into your eye like the powder form of eyeshadow.  Another good point is their sticks twist out for more of the product and retract again, which makes them safer bets from breakage.

In the photo below and starting at the top of my hand is #220 Volcanic, #210 Flare, #215 Smolder, and closest to my thumb is #205 Atomic.

Furthermore, these beauties will make your eyes smolder with dramatic intensity while being creaseproof and lasting practically all day until you take them off.  Do pick up these Revlon's Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks and discover how for $8.99 each you too can create a sexy sensation with your eyes!

What a Beautiful Concept! Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails promotion ad.jpeg
Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails

I'm not a heavy drinker, but when I do indulge usually it is with a glass of wine or a wine cooler.  So I was glad to review the new Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails when asked by SheSpeaks to sample their three varieties of Blackberry Merlot, Strawberry White Zinfandel, and White Pear Pinot Grigio.

Each flavor is in its own 10-ounce pouch to freeze until use.  Start about five hours before needed  and then squeeze the contents into a glass for a delicious frozen slushy brimming with fruity flavor and 6-percent of alcohol.

I really liked the concept of freezing a pouch and having just enough for a glass at a time instead of being saddled with an entire bottle that once opened can go bad if left untouched for to long.  In addition, this was so easy to use with no mixing or corkscrews to fuss with.

The Blackberry Merlot is a wonderful combination of fragrant blackberries and guava swimming in merlot.  I had never tried merlot alone but this had a nice balance to be savored without being overpowering.

Another time I sampled the Strawberry White Zinfandel, which was delightful with how the slight tartness complimented the stronger zinfandel.  I do think this particular one was my favorite.

The last flavor was the White Pear Pinot Grigio.  I also enjoyed this one as well that had white pear, apple, and tangy citrus added to the pinot grigio.

If you do like wine coolers, I know you would like all three flavors of Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails because they were so fruity and refreshing!

Melvita's Algascience Contouring Serum Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Melvita's Algascience Contouring Serum.jpeg
Melvita's Algascience Contouring Serum

Although there is debate whether cellulite products really can break down fatty deposits that always seem to find a way to our thighs, hips, and backsides, I do know what I have been testing from organic beauty brand, Melvita with their Algascience Contouring Serum does help smooth those unsightly dimpled areas for a better appearance.

The science behind this product works with the biological rhythms of the body and incorporates a specially formulated smart system of a 3-seaweed complex of Corralline (to burn fat cells and prevent storage of it), Palmaria (for drainage of that fat), and Fucus along with Caffeine (for contouring).

Although it is recommended to use their Exfoliating Soap first to prepare the targeted areas, I only received the serum.  However, I used a body brush and followed with a massaging device with rubber teeth to get the circulation going.

I had used a loofah in the past with other cellulite products to prepare before I applied this type of product, but I do not like the germs I later learned they harbor.  You can also use a rolling pin over those humps and bumps first, which also does stimulate the blood flow.

Once I stepped out of the shower both morning and night, I worked my hand over those bad spots and pinched and kneaded for about five minutes for extra blood flow before applying the Algascience Contouring Serum.  I rubbed that serum in those areas using circular motions until it dried.

After several weeks now, I did notice improvement from that former grapefruit texture.  I can't say everything has smoothed  to perfection or for how long this effect will last since you are advised to use their recommended Slimming Oil to maintain those results, but the skin does look smoother and firmer than before I began using this product.  What woman wouldn't like that end result when looking in a full-length mirror?  Therefore, I am pleased!

Garden Botanika Pre-Mixed Perfumes (Balance, Joy to The Girl, and Sweet Violet) Review + Giveaway! (3 Winners!)--Ends September 14, 2012

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Garden Botanika Pre-Mixed Perfumes.jpeg
Garden Botanika Pre-Mixed Perfumes

Heart happens to be Garden Botanika's best-selling perfume.  I must admit that the fragrance is quite exquisite, but I truly think the company's other pre-mixed perfume blends should not be overlooked such as three extraordinary ones I tested for this review and giveaway of Sweet Violet, Balance, and Joy to The Girl.

Sweet Violet is the most intense of the trio with violet, mimosa, and rose awakened to the freshness of the bergamot that cuts the sweetness of the romantic floral notes delightfully, giving this fragrance bouquet an irresistible allure and sense of sophistication until musk turns this hypnotic blend warm and sensual with undeniable appeal.  This stunning perfume has dimension and character as its layers unfold to captivate like a good book that you can't put down.

Elegant and very feminine, Joy to The Girl is light and a sparkling floral that comes alive with beautiful notes of orange, white jasmine, cherry blossom, and rose.  Think of a warm sunny day as you walk through a garden with a slight breeze stirring the surroundings with greens and woods.  This blend is pure romance in a bottle.  And the longer you linger, the more you feel the heat as you pick up the sexy warmth of the woods and musk merging together to give this fragrance its ever so romantic bewitching quality.

Graceful beauty is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Balance.  Of this threesome, this Eau de Parfum is the gentlest of floral scents as it whispers to you in a soft refined voice with orchid, jasmine, and magnolia from the delicate balance.  Amber vanilla is the warmth behind this romantic essence to make it truly memorable and utterly feminine.

I had never expected such overwhelming beauty, but there it was in these three pre-mixed blends.  Honestly, I was very impressed and highly recommend these.  As you can probably guess, Sweet Violet stole my heart with its complexity and how it bloomed to life.  Yet, Joy to The Girl was just as glorious only in a different way that also left a lasting impression.  Nonetheless, the serene notes of Balance were also hauntingly lovely like a pleasant dream you want to recapture from how softly it touches you.

I definitely will be trying more of these fabulous pre-mixed perfume blends!  If you're unsure as to what scent would suit you the best, I suggest test drive any of their pre-mixed perfumes in a 0.17 fl. trial size for only $3.50!

Keep Summer Going With Revlon Cosmetics: Review of 2012 Escapism Collection by Gucci Westman

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Revlon's ColorBurst Lipgloss (2012 Escapism Collection).jpeg
Revlon's ColorBurst Lipgloss (2012 Escapism Collection)

Don't despair about these last remaining weeks of summer.  Although the warm weather will soon be gone, you still can take advantage of some amazing products from Revlon Cosmetics 2012 Escapism Collection by Gucci Westman that will keep that summer glow alive so you can play up your tan like never before!  Let me tell you about some exciting must-have items, inspired by sparkling aqua hues of the sea, bold colors, and sunlight as it casts magic over sandy beaches of St. Tropez to keep you just as sizzling hot.

If you haven't tried Revlon's ColorBurst Lipgloss, then you are missing out.  These are supremely moisturizing, have a wonderful texture without any stickiness, go on sheer with a doe-foot type of applicator so following the contours of your lips is easier to dispense the product.

I received three ColorBurst Lipglosses in Crystal Water #40 (a sparkling sheer white with traces of lilac that is ideal for layering), Sizzle #46 (a juicy bite of sheer orange and on the left in my photo), and Sunbaked #44 (a gorgeous mauve-brown void of a shimmer livened up with a tad of red for the perfect universal nude shade).

Those hunting for the ultimate blush that delivers a realistic natural glow would love Revlon's PhotoReady Cream Blush.  The consistency of this cream feels silky against your fingers and once you blend this into the apples of your cheeks, you are left with only the most radiant sheer glow imaginable that eventually dries to a powder with a satin finish.  Though much lighter on the cheeks, this is a very buildable blush.  All you do is to dab some into the pads of your fingers and tap the area that needs more--and you deepen the shade.

Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blushes.jpeg
Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blushes

The two shades of Revlon's PhotoReady Cream Blush that I worked with were Flushed #200 and Pinched #100Flushed #200 is a lively hot pink in the package that lightens upon application to a fabulous glowing pink.  Whereas, Pinched #100 is a warmer peach-coral shade that worked miracles with the yellow tones of my skin for infusing it with a vigorous burst of health.

I also was sent Revlon's CustomEyes Shadow and Liner in Beach Bunny.  The five colors in this compact, which has mica and not talc, are a combination of matte and shimmer with soft medium brown overcast with gold light, a pale matte aqua green, a shimmery white, a medium matte gray, and a black liner color for a striking effect once worn.  These shades are nicely pigmented and lasted for hours without creasing.

I really liked these Revlon products from this summer collection and do hope you grab them while they're still available.  Trust me, and you will love what they can do for you!

Recipe: Easy Food Processor Salad Dressing Nuts Style!

This salad dressing is extra delicious with the addition of one fresh green pepper, an entire medium sized onion, and a clove of garlic that you process first before combining with the rest of the ingredients.  A refreshing twist comes from the orange and lemon juices that have a wonderful way to heighten the taste with that bit of citrus.

Allow those awesome flavor molecules time to properly mingle in your refrigerator.  If you do, the wait will reward your taste buds with a superb salad dressing that will compliment those greens in magnificent style!

If you prefer a less sweet dressing, no problem.  All you need to do is cut the amount of sugar in half.

Easy Food Processor Salad Dressing

1 medium green pepper
1 medium onion
1 large clove of garlic
1/4 cup of olive or canola oil
1/3 cup of orange juice
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Clean and then process you green pepper that you cut in pieces along with the cut onion, and the garlic.

Add the orange juice, oil, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper next and keep processing until you have the smooth texture of your liking.

Keep this dressing in the refrigerator covered for about two hours first so those flavors can percolate!

Recipe: My Special Gold Cake Turns Any Day Into a Joyous Occasion!

Although there are a few more steps than I typically like, I do think the results are worth the tiny bit of extra trouble for this special gold cake that I have for you today.  This recipe is incredibly moist and light for one that is made from all-purpose flour.  You just may be fooled into thinking finer textured cake flour was involved.

This recipe is enough to make a triple layer cake with pans of nine-inch size or a big sheet cake.  Frost with your favorite icing or do try my recipe for whipped cream like Special Occasion Bakery Frosting.  In place of Virgin Coconut Oil, you can substitute shortening for equally delectable results.

So I share this small joy with you and hope you give my recipe a try one day.  Honestly, I know you will love it!

My Special Gold Cake

1-1/2 cups of granulated sugar
1 cup of confectioners' sugar
1 cup of shortening
5 eggs, separated
3 cups of flour
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt (for the cake batter)
1/4 teaspoon of salt (for beating with the egg whites)
1-1/4 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Make sure your eggs are at room temperature. This trick will make the task of separating the yolks from the whites easier.

Sift the two varieties of sugar together in a large mixing bowl.

Cream the sifted sugars with the shortening thoroughly.

After separating your eggs into two mixing bowls, add the yolks to the creamed mixture and beat well.

Beat your egg whites with 1/4 teaspoon of salt until stiff peaks form.  The salt does help firm it much better.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt and slowly alternate the dry with your milk and vanilla to the creamed mixture, until you exhaust those ingredients.

Now fold in your stiffly beaten egg whites into your batter.

Pour into three greased and lined with wax paper or simply floured 9-inch cake pans.  Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 35-40 minutes.  Test with a toothpick inserted and if it comes out clean, then it is done.

This also makes a big sheet cake about 11" x 3/4" x 7-1/2".  Just remember, you may need to keep size pan in slightly a few more minutes, depending on your oven.

Inova Professional Silk Keratin Hair Care Products Review + Giveaway!--Ends September 10, 2012

Inova Professional Pure Shine Finishing Gloss and Sheer Magic Smoothing Balm.jpeg
Inova Professional Pure Shine Finishing Gloss and Sheer Magic Smoothing Balm

Are you tired of dull, lifeless hair and that battle to smooth it out from that jumble of frizz each morning?  If the answer is yes and your hair is a troublemaker like mine with curls or waves, then you will be especially eager to hear about my latest discovery from Inova Professional and their silk keratin hair care products sent to me for this review to keep our type of problem hair vibrant and healthy.

The Silk Keratin Smooth Protection Sulfate-Free Shampoo is designed with strengthening keratin as well as coconut oil, silk proteins, and vitamin C among other hair nourishing ingredients to gently clean and moisturize without any other treatment being stripped away to keep it smooth and manageable.   I shampooed with this first very rich formula and followed with the specially formulated smoothing conditioner.

The Smooth Hydration Conditioner has a unique Nanokeratin technology that is perfect for chemically treated or thermo-reconditioned hair for smoothing, de-tangling, and helping to bolster your capacity to make hair shine.  I squeezed a small amount and worked it into my damp hair and left it on while I continued my bath for a several minutes before finally rinsing it out.

While my hair was still damp, I applied some of the Silk Keratin Sheer Magic Smoothing Balm.  This is both a smoothing and styling product in one that uses amino acids to seal in moisture and the strength of keratin for locking in the smoothness as it protects those vulnerable strands from being ravaged from humidity.

I grabbed my blow-dryer and round ceramic brushes to style my hair.  As I held my firm grip, I began noticing how  the unruly layers of my curls appeared tamer.  The longer I dried, the more sleek and smooth the area that I worked with looked with a gloss to it.

Although I liked the way my hair already looked, I had to try their Pure Shine Finishing Gloss.  I got a few drops and worked in through my hair and ended up with an even far superior shine.  This last touch even turned my hair even silkier.

One other product was in their introduction kit.  This was their Miracle Mask Repair & Rejuvenate Deep Conditioning Mask.  This is a heavy duty conditioner you use on a weekly basis that has beneficial avocado oil, keratin protein, silk protein and white carnation oil to revitalize damage.  So with my next shampoo, I skipped the Smooth Hydration Conditioner and applied some to my still damp hair for about a half an hour before rinsing.

The next thing I did was to apply some the Sheer Magic Smoothing Balm and finishing styling with my blow-dryer.  I noticed sleeker, full, and super sexy hair with a healthy sense of renewal. I really liked how these products worked and do recommend them for all seeking that smooth, polished look!

Thanks to Inova Professional, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the continental United States wins the Silk Keratin Smooth Protection Sulfate-Free Shampoo, Smooth Hydration Conditioner, and Miracle Mask Repair & Rejuvenate Deep Conditioning Mask ($98 value)!

How to Best Find Your Right Shade of Bold Red Lip Color

Bold lips are big news for Fall 2012.  However, if you shy away from these type of dramatic shades like those strong, daring reds because you can't find the ones that look right on you, then you might have better luck if you follow this suggestion.

If you have fair skin, you should  look into orange reds.

Those with medium and golden tones in their complexions should try true reds.

Deep brick reds work for those with dark skin to really give them impact.

NYC New York Color Eye Cosmetics Review + Swatches!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

NYC New York Color Eye Cosmetics.jpeg
NYC New York Color Eye Cosmetics

Creating eyes that can turn all the attention on you is easy enough  if you have the right products at your disposal.   Some will argue that real glam only can come from pricey, high end cosmetics.  However, I will clue you in there are equally fabulous, lower-priced options that can do the same thing to give you those bewitching eyes like these from  NYC New York Color that I was sent for this review.

To begin, I will tell you about my experience with their High Definition Liquid Eyeliner in #889 Extra Black.  This felt tip liner was so easy to work with.  I found the thin tip was just the right slim thickness to keep your line from being overly dramatic with bold thickness.  In addition, this product held up like a champ all day for me without flaking or smudging.

For those that are more comfortable with eyeliner pencils, I tried their Automatic Eyeliner Pencils  in #835 Brazen Blue, #833 Plum Perfect, #831 Basic Black, #832 Bold Brown, and #834 Vampy Violet.  These do not need sharpening and merely swivel up and twist to keep them fine tuned. They go on very nicely without tugging on that delicate skin and do last for a long time.

I noticed these colors are less intense than the previous eyeliner.   Nonetheless, this fact does not distract any quality from them, but only that it means that they can deliver more subtle looks.  For instance, the black is closer in color to a deep gray than a true black.   Another excellent feature is that all of these Automatic Eyeliner Pencils can be smudged to soften the line unlike the liquid form.

Next, I was provided with three of their Sparkle Dust Eyeshadows in #899 Lilac Sensation, (beaming pale lilac purple) #891 Opal Sparkle (radiant soft white), and #895 Smokey Topaz (plum with a pink-copper shimmer).  These are pots of stunning shimmering loose powder housed with a brush inside.  You may think this will cause a messy application.  However, you are wrong because you can tap any excess off the sides inside the container once you pull it out from the inner part with powder.

NYC New York Color Sparkle Dust Eyeshadow Trio.jpeg
NYC New York Color Sparkle Dust Eyeshadows

swatches of NYC New York Color Sparkle Dust Eyeshadows.jpeg
In the photos, Smoky Topaz is the one at the top on the left and closest to my wrist followed by Opal Sparkle and Lilac Sensation in the one below.

All are simply beautiful and as sheer washes of eye color that can light up your eyes with a luminous glow and not glitter flakes.

For additional use,  you might want to try Opal Sparkle to highlight your cheekbones because it makes a great illuminator on top of that blush color to give you those glowing cheeks.

High Definition Volumizing Mascara in #854 Extreme Black is what I finished with.  You will love how it separates and doesn't clump for gorgeous lengthened lashes.  Use your eyelash curler and watch how this product seems to magnify your lashes even more.

I found an interesting way to get the most out of this mascara that I would like to pass on to you.  Try applying it to the under parts of your lashes first.  Next, you wait a few seconds for it to dry and follow by hardly touching the lashes with the wand.  Proceed to quickly swipe through to the tips.  This little trick will really make you appreciate the fine qualities of this wonderful mascara.

The more NYC New York Color Cosmetics that I work with, the more impressed I am with the results of what is possible with them.  I definitely recommend any of these products because they are excellent finds if you ask me.

Melvita's Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Melvita's Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream.jpeg
Melvita's Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream

Despite the season, I always have a problem with dry skin.  My hands constantly show signs of redness, flaky, and chapping.  As a result, I have quite a collection of hand creams and lotions on my vanity in my attempt to find the ultimate one.  Therefore, I was glad when Melvita, the French organic beauty brand, allowed me to review their Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream.

Believe it or not, I have a problem with the water in places like public restrooms or hospitals that always aggravates the skin on my hands when washed there.  At first, I had blamed it on the liquid soaps and even resorted to bringing my own from home, but it did not help.   I don't know if it is the temperature of the water that goes through their system or what but my hands really hurt with awful redness every time like yesterday.

Thankfully, I remembered I had that tube of Melvita's Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream waiting and hurried to see if this would speed the healing along.

Immediately as you open the tube, you are greeted to the wonderfully sweet aroma from the three varieties of honey (Thyme, Orange Blossom, and Acacia) in this thick cream formula, which also includes royal jelly, Shea butter and cocoa butter for skin repair and returning moisture.

This is a luxurious rich cream that you need to use less than you typically would, which I soon learned.  As you rub this fragrant cream in, you will be amazed at how this product sinks into your hungry skin without leaving it greasy.

I was totally shocked that soon I was feeling some relief because as I sat through an hour of television, I noticed the redness seemed lighter as well.

Before I went to bed, I gave myself another application.  When I awoke the next morning, I had my former hands back and still soft skin as I type this.

Honestly, this Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream is tops in my book.  It sells for $25 for a 5.07 oz. size tube and does truly work!  Others with this same problem need to try this product and experience quick relief.

Why could be more perfect for a hot summer day than cooling off with a piece of homemade banana cream pie?  With ripe bananas mingling with rich pudding goodness, made even smoother with evaporated milk, and this recipe takes comfort food to a whole new level before being poured into a pre-baked crust.  All it takes is one piece of this chilled pie and you are bound to feel joy as you bite.

The secret of bringing out the most banana flavor is to let your hot pudding filling cool first before pouring into the banana-lined crust.  This way you won't slightly cook those sliced bananas and lose any bit of that delicious fruit to heat.  Another plus about allowing this filling to cool is that your sliced bananas will not turn dark, but keep their same appearance.

As I mentioned, I have made many types of pie crusts.  I used to make the traditional shortening type, the hot water method, some recipes that used vinegar in the crust, and still others had baking powder in the mix as a part of the crust until finding my cherished oil pie crust.  All the other crusts can be tricky to work with when it comes to how flaky the texture of your dough will turn out.  On the other hand, my oil pie crust is so easy to make and never undermines your pie-making confidence so it turns out every time with tender, flaky crust.

So the next time you have bananas and are in dire need of a smile, I hope you are tempted enough to make this recipe.  Trust me, but it can do wonders to brighten a day and those around you!

My Homemade Banana Cream Pie

10-inch baked pie shell
2/3 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 (12-oz. size) can evaporated milk
1 can  water
4 egg yolks
1 tablespoon of vanilla
3 large bananas

Take your eggs out  to leave at room temperature while you're baking your pie shell.  This will make it easier for you to separate them.

Stir together sugar, cornstarch, and salt in your pot.

Now that the eggs have warmed, you can separate the whites from the yolks for the pudding filling.  Refrigerate the whites for other uses.

Add the yolks with the milk and gradually stir into the dry ingredients in your pot.

Cook over medium heat, carefully stirring until the mixture thickens and boils.

Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.

Press plastic wrap over your pudding mixture in the pot and allow this to cool at room temperature before pouring into the baked pie shell that you will line with sliced bananas.

Chill the pie thoroughly for about two hours before serving.  You can eat it plain or top with whipped topping or whipped cream before feasting on this.

Recipe: My Favorite Coffee Crumb Cake Will Make Your Mouth Water!

Everyone has their own favorite coffee cake recipe.  However, I have quite a few that I like to rotate with because they all are very delicious as well as different.  At times, I hunger for a yeast-raised variety of cake with giant crumbs formed by mixing flour, sugar, and butter together.   The rest of the time, I settle for something quick with baking powder and switch between several others.

The recipe that  I want to share with you today is unlike most typical coffee cakes in that it has actual coffee in the batter.  You will also notice that the only flavoring in this cake is nutmeg and cinnamon, which does wonderful things once combined with that coffee to give it something special.

When you're next in the mood to do a little baking, I do hope you give this recipe a try.  You just might find another wonderful coffee cake recipe to stuff in your recipe box!

My Favorite Coffee Crumb Cake

3 cups of sifted flour
1-1/3 cups of sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2/3 cup of shortening  or margarine (not spread)
2 eggs, well beaten
1-1/3 cups of cooled coffee
3/4 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and spices together in your mixing bowl.

Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Save 3/4 cup of this mixture and use to top your coffee cake.

Now add the beaten eggs and coffee to rest of the mixture for your cake and combine.

Pour into a greased baking dish about 11" x 3/4" x 7-1/2".

Top with your saved crumb mixture.

Bake at 350-degree oven for about 35-40 minutes or until a slender knife inserted comes out clean.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy Cosmetics Review for Fall Beauty + Swatches!

Are you looking to transform your look for fall?  Let me tell you about a few new products I just reviewed from Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy that just may help solve your confusion and make it easier about some of those new cosmetics you might be considering.

The first item I want to tell you about is their Sun Glow Powder Bronzer.  This is really a fantastic multi-toned bronzer that can help keep the look of summer on your skin without giving you that harsh, unnatural brown look that can often accommodate bronzers.  This matte bronzer comes in either Spring (which is the one I requested with pink tones) and Summer (with peach tones).  I found the powder goes on like silk with a believable sheer tone that adheres nicely, probably from the skin conditioning sunflower seed, corn oil and gingko-biloba leaf extract.

Look at the soft radiant  glow of this bronzer in my first photo and below on my arm.  Notice the realistic sense of warmth that this delivers without overpowering to look artificial.

Just to make it handier, this bronzer comes with its own brush and mirror, housed underneath the color.  Although you probably will want to use your thicker brush for application, I found this brush can work in a pinch when you want to grab it from your handbag.

Concealer is always on my list.  I got to test the Fast Fix Concealer in Light Clair.    Until you unwrap the packaging, the shade looks darker inside.  Nonetheless, the color is definitely lighter and blends effortlessly into your under eye area with just enough coverage to hide any ugly darkness.

The consistency of this concealer is about just right and doesn't seem to cake up in those fine lines.  Furthermore, I found the skin appeared smoother instead of that caked look you might have encountered with other concealers.  Then again, this product has the advantage of natural ingredients to boost radiance with sunflower, mango butter, and papaya.

I thought the Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette in Quartz and Metallic would be ideal for updating your makeup color scheme for fall.  What I most love about either brown toned palette is how natural and perfectly coordinated both were for the office and school.

Other beautiful things that I have discovered about these shadows are they last without settling into any creases for hours and come with a sponge applicator, which is becoming rare anymore.

In this photo, Quartz is on the left with Metallic on the right.  As you will notice, Quartz is more of a cool brown with a taupe lid shade and a peach-pink highlight color.  The Metallic has a copper-brown contour shade has a beige peachy-brown for the lid shade and a golden-beige highlight color.

Although these eye shadows lasted most of the day, I wanted to see how their Fast Fix Eye Shadow Base would work on a hot humid day.  The next time the occasion came up, I applied that product and then topped with the Quartz eye shadow palette while I spent a good part of the day outside.  Usually in that awful heat, I had makeup meltdown of eye shadows despite how well they held up otherwise.  However, I was impressed with the difference this base made for preventing that color to settle into creases.  As you can imagine, I will be keeping this product in mind once I run out.

As to lips, I wanted gorgeous fall shades but also a product to keep my lips feeling moisturized.  Thus, I selected their Forever Stay Moisture Gloss that has beneficial Kokum butter, grapefruit extract, vitamins A and E, and jojoba oil for that needed extra protection as the weather turns colder.

Starting from the left in the above photo is Sparkling Nude (beautiful basic peach with a hint of brown), Mochachino (great looking brown-red), Toasted Almond (radiant peachy-brown), Cherry Crush (elegant deep red), and Blossom (tempting medium pink-plum).

All of these products really were wonderful and even better than I had ever expected.  Honestly, I will be buying quite a few of these products again and will be definitely on the lookout for more.  If you haven't tried Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy yet, then I highly recommend all of these products!

Neutral lip colors are always something I like to pick up when I am at the cosmetics counter.  Despite trends, the shades always seem to go with practically everything for when striving for a natural look besides being gorgeous for fall.  I especially noticed how using neutral lipsticks and glosses seem to enhance the look of smoky eyes like the stunning shades of NYC New York Color Cosmetics Ultra Last Lipwear that I was sent to review.

If you had never tried this brand of lipstick, then I highly recommend you do so now because they are fantastic quality.  These feel incredibly smooth on the lips and last for at least four hours.  Unlike some others, the Ultra Last Lipsticks do not melt into your lips to later leave an outline of color as I had recently experienced when using another brand that I bought previously that now changed their formula.  If all this isn't enought to excite you, then how little they cost will at only $1.99 each!

As to colors, these lipsticks have a striking range of colors to select from that deliver somewhat sheer shades like the five tubes that I want to acquaint you with.  Starting from the left in the photo below, I have Mousse #420, (an adorable beige pink-brown ), Brandy Sparkle #415 (a light infusion of a glistening plum to the brown), Caramel #401 (my favorite that has a tinge of shimmering red to the pink-brown), Mauve Gold #412 (slightly darker than Caramel with a pinch more gleaming brown), and Rose Gold #413 (a great basic peachy pink-brown that softly shimmers).

I am being sincere when I say I will definitely be buying these lipsticks again.  How can you afford not too?  These NYC New York Color Cosmetics Ultra Last Lipwear line are a tremendous value that will make you beautiful as well without any chance of letting you down in regard to quality!
